GAYARRE HISTORY CLUB

Gayarre History Club of C. E. Byrd High School was founded in 1929 and is named in honor of Louisiana Secretary of State and historian Charles Gayarré (1805-1895). Our official club motto is 'ad fontes,' a Latin expression for going 'to the source.' The club hosts historical field trips, history movie nights, and an annual conference at the R. W. Norton Art Gallery.

Gayarre is a chapter of the National History Club and it is led by advisers John Lary and Whitney Lary.
