Possible approaches to the theme (Others encouraged):
Historical change does not occur in a vacuum; instead it is caused by a multitude of factors building up to a tipping point. For this year's conference, consider tipping points throughout history in which a rising action eventually led to a specific tipping point that represents significant change in history. Is all change brought about by a clear tipping point? Is gradual evolutionary change possible without a tipping point? How should historians identify and interpret tipping points? Researchers may explore change and continuity over time in response to tipping points from any era and across the globe.
